Early Irish and Celtic Studies Research Seminar (Semester 1, 2014-15)

We have an exciting programme of visiting speakers for our research seminar at Maynooth this semester. All lectures take place at 5pm in the Foras Feasa seminar room, Iontas Building, North Campus, Maynooth University. Everyone is welcome and all lectures are followed by an informal wine reception. The lectures are as follows:

Thursday 9th October: Professor Ralph O’Connor (University of Aberdeen): ‘Historia​, fabula, and everything in between: saga-writing and historical purpose in medieval Ireland and Iceland’

Thursday 20th November: Professor Liam Breatnach (Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies):  ‘​Fingen Mac Flainn’s Poem to the Fir Addae: An Early Medieval Irish Threat of Satire’

Thursday 11th December: Professor Aidan O’Sullivan (University College Dublin): ​’How Did People Live, Work and Bury Their Dead in Early Medieval Ireland? Thinking Through the New Archaeological Excavation Evidence with the Early Medieval Archaeology Project (EMAP)’
